HUMAN-CENTRIC LIGHTING

Light for Health and Wellbeing

Lighting inspired by nature

Lighting is more than just a tool - it’s a vital element that shapes our environments and well-being. Human-centric lighting (HCL) is designed to mimic the natural light patterns of the sun, adjusting throughout the day to support our natural circadian rhythms.

By aligning light with our biological needs, HCL creates an ideal balance between artificial and natural light, ensuring they work harmoniously together for the best possible effect.

IUNU is committed to advancing HCL by promoting the latest research that highlights the positive effects of human-centered lighting on health.

Crafting Natural Rhythms

HCL simulates the natural progression of daylight by displaying light intensities and the spectrum with color temperatures in Kelvin. HCL shifts from the warm, golden tones of sunrise (around 2000K) to the neutral, balanced white light at midday (approximately 5000K), and then transitions to the cooler, blue hues of sunset (around 3000K). This dynamic variation in light color helps regulate our circadian rhythms, promoting well-being and optimizing both productivity and relaxation by mimicking the natural flow of daylight.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does HCL differ from traditional artificial lighting?

HCL is designed to mimic natural light throughout the day, adjusting color temperature and intensity to align with our circadian rythms. Traditional artificial lighting typically remains static and does not consider these factors.

Is HCL energy-efficient?

Yes, Human Centric Lighting can be energy-efficient when designed and implemented properly. The use of LED technology, coupled with smart controls and sensors that adjust lighting based on occupancy or natural daylight, can reduce energy consumption while still providing the desired benefits. Furthermore, HCL systems are often designed to use lighting more effectively, dimming or switching off lights when not needed, and adjusting brightness to match actual needs at different times of day

How can I incorporate HCL into my space?

You can integrate HCL solutions using smart lighting systems that adjust color temperature and intensity based on the time of the day. Lighting fixtures that mimic natural light patterns are also available for homes and businesses.

Are there scientific studies supporting the benefits of HCL?

Yes, there is a growing body of scientific research that demonstrates the positive impact of HCL on psychophysical health. Our blog features the latest studies and discoveries in this field.
